Check mark or tick?

The same symbol: Americans say check mark, British and Indian English say tick. ✓ is the light one, ✔ the heavy one, ☑ a ticked box and ✅ the green emoji. Word has its own: Insert › Symbol, Wingdings 2, character P.

How do I copy and paste a tick symbol?

Click ✓ or ✔ in Check marks and crosses above; it is copied at once. Paste it with Ctrl + V, or ⌘ + V on a Mac.

How do I type a check mark?

Click ✓ or ✔ above to copy it. On Windows, Win + . opens the symbol picker; in Word, use Insert, Symbol and pick it from Wingdings.

How do I type the degree symbol?

Click ° above, or press Alt + 0176 on a Windows number pad, or ⌥ + ⇧ + 8 on a Mac.

Do these symbols work everywhere?

They are standard Unicode characters, so they paste into documents, chats, social media and emails. Very old systems may show a few as boxes.

How do I copy several symbols at once?

Click each one; they collect in Your picks. Then press Copy all picks.
