Why number keys
Your hands stay on the keyboard. There’s no panel to open and no list to scroll, so it helps most when you paste the same few things again and again: order numbers into a support reply, rows between spreadsheets, details into a form.
Setup
Download ClipTen, open it and sign in with your browser. Windows asks for no special permission. ClipTen can start with Windows, and one switch pauses it.
Questions
How is this different from Win + V?
Win + V opens a list of your recent copies and you pick one. ClipTen skips the list: Ctrl + V + 2 pastes whatever you saved on 2.
Does ClipTen turn off Windows clipboard history?
No. Keep Win + V for “what did I copy earlier?”, and use slots for the things you paste all day.
Another app already uses Ctrl + V + a number.
Paste with Ctrl + Shift + the number instead. ClipTen shows when this is needed.
