### The app

ClipTen is a clipboard manager. What people copy is some of the most private data on a computer: passwords, messages, addresses, work documents. So ClipTen is built so that none of it can leave your PC.

- ClipTen never sends anything you copy anywhere. Not to us, not to anyone.

- The app connects to clipten.com only to check for updates, to check your licence if you bought one, to add your email to the update list if you ask, a short note when it is installed or updated (see “Your account, signing in and buying” below), and a problem report when you press Send. It does not send analytics or crash reports.

- When a password manager marks a copy as secret, ClipTen does not save it.

To erase your slots at any time, open ClipTen and press Empty all under Your slots. To erase your copy history, press Clear under History.

ClipTen registers only its own shortcuts. On a Mac, three optional features need to watch the keyboard: the Hyperkey, opening the panel with a double tap, and locking the keyboard while you clean it. Each is off until you turn it on, and none of them keeps or sends anything it sees.

### The launcher and its answers

Searching apps, files, windows, your copies, and your browsers’ bookmarks and recent history happens on your computer. A few answers need the internet, and only these leave it, straight from your computer to the service named, never through us:

- Weather: the place you typed, to Open-Meteo

- Translation: the text you asked to translate, to Google Translate

- Money: the latest exchange rates, read from Coinbase every few hours, without what you typed

- Flights: the flight number you typed, to ADS-B.lol

- AI: what you send, to the AI provider whose key you added, and only when you ask

- Web searches and quicklinks open in your browser, like any link

The Files page reads file names, dates, sizes and, for photos, a picture summary to find look-alikes. All of it stays on your computer.

### Your licence, the community and buying

ClipTen needs no account. A purchase is kept with the email you paid with, and its licence key opens it in the app; for that, we store your email, a one-way code for each computer the key is active on, and your plan and licence. It never holds anything you copy. An account on clipten.com is only for the community (the members list and Ideas): it is your email, confirmed by a 6-digit code, with no password. An idea you send from the app goes with your licence, so it is shown as yours on the Ideas board.

If your account is deleted, everything on it goes with it. We keep one thing: a one-way fingerprint of the email address (not the address itself), so the same email can’t be used to open a new account. To use it again, email support@clipten.com.

Every account also has a nickname and an avatar (no photo). We make both for you from set words and choices, never from your email, and you can change them any time on your account page. They are public: clipten.com shows them in its members list, in the order people joined, with whether you have ClipTen on a Mac or a Windows PC (or not yet), and nothing else about you. Your nickname must not be your real name. To leave the list, untick Show me on the members list on your account page.

You do not need an account to use ClipTen. Without one, the app only asks clipten.com now and then whether there is a newer version, sending its version and whether it is for Mac or Windows. If you buy, you paste your licence key into the app (or sign in with the email you used before), and from then on the app checks in with clipten.com every few minutes while it runs. Each time it sends only: a short code made from your computer (a one-way hash, not its name or any serial number), the app version, and the days left on a free trial if one is running. We answer with your plan and a signed sign-in pass, which ClipTen checks on your computer. We keep when each computer was last seen so your dashboard can show it, and you can disconnect any computer there.

So that your account page shows whether ClipTen is really running, a signed-in app also sends a short "still here" every two minutes, and a "closed" when you quit it. Each carries only the same computer code, never anything you copied.

Each install of ClipTen keeps a random number on your computer (made at install, not taken from the computer). When ClipTen is installed or updated, on Mac or Windows, it sends clipten.com that number, the ClipTen version, the system version, the kind of processor, and where the copy came from (the Mac install command, the Microsoft Store or a direct download). The Mac uninstall command sends the same when it removes ClipTen. We note the country the request came from, but not the IP address. When you sign in, the app sends the same random number, so we can tell which install your account signed in on. Removing ClipTen from a Mac with the uninstall command also signs that Mac out of your account.

When you press Buy in the app, ClipTen opens that page in your own web browser.

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. Dodo Payments receives what it needs to take the payment, such as your email address, country and payment details, under its own privacy policy. We receive back only whether the payment succeeded, the amount and a payment reference.

### This website

- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people. It sets cookies and receives the page address (without anything after a ? or #, so nothing you type into a tool or a sign-in link reaches it), the page title, the site you came from, the words you search for on our search page, and your browser, device and approximate location, under Google's privacy policy. What you type into the free tools stays in your browser. You can block it with any content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on. The site has no advertising scripts.

- If you join the download list, we store your email address and which computer you use with our email provider, Resend, so we can send you the download link. We send you nothing else unless you ask. To be removed, email support@clipten.com and we will delete it.

- The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any web host, processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep them secure.

### Reports and emails you send

Facing a problem? on the install section of clipten.com sends us the step you picked, what you wrote, any screenshots you add, and your email if you give it. With them come your browser’s own description of itself (for example “Safari on a Mac”), the page, and the country our host reports for the request. No IP address is kept. Screenshots are made smaller in your browser before they are sent. Crop out anything private first. Only the ClipTen team can see a report. We use it only to fix the problem and reply to you. Screenshots are deleted 90 days after the report is solved, and the report after a year.

Report a bug in the app builds a report you can read in full first. It includes the app version, system version, plan and recent events, but never clipboard content. It is sent to clipten.com only when you press Send, along with the email of the account you are signed in with so we can reply. Only the ClipTen team can see it. If you email us or send a report, we use it only to help you, fix bugs and send a bug reward.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
