The count below tells you how many repeats were removed. ### What counts as a duplicate By default, two lines are the same if they match after ignoring capitals and spaces at either end. So Banana, banana and banana are one item. Untick the options for an exact match, where every letter and space must be identical. The first time a line appears is the one that stays, and the list keeps its order. To sort it as well, use sort lines alphabetically (https://clipten.com/tools/sort-lines-alphabetically), which can remove duplicates at the same time. ### In Excel or Google Sheets Excel has Data › Remove Duplicates, and Google Sheets has Data › Data cleanup › Remove duplicates, or the formula =UNIQUE(A:A). They are good for columns already in a sheet. Yes. With Ignore capitals ticked, Apple and apple count as the same line, and the first one is kept as written. How many lines can it handle?
