Open the box, type “left half”, “third” or “centre”, press Enter. No dragging, the same on a Mac and a PC.

ClipTen (https://clipten.com/) arranges windows from its search box. Press ⌘ + Space on a Mac or Alt + Space on Windows, type where the window should go, and press Enter.

Both systems can snap windows on their own. Here is what they do, and what ClipTen adds.

- Desktops 1 to 10. Send a window to another desktop by its number.

- Switch windows. Type part of a window’s name and go straight to it.

- Layouts per screen setup. Plug in the same screens and your windows go back where they were.

### What is built in

- Windows 10 and 11: Win + ← and Win + → snap to halves; on Windows 11, Win + Z opens Snap Layouts. PowerToys adds FancyZones for custom zones.

- Mac: recent macOS versions tile windows when you drag them to an edge, or from Window › Move & Resize. Older Macs need an app.
