## Dictation for Mac that types in any app.

Hold a key, say it, let go. Your words land where you are typing: email, Slack, Notes, the browser, anywhere.

### Quick answer

Checked October 2026 by the founder

ClipTen (https://clipten.com/) turns your voice into typing on a Mac. Hold the right ⌥ key, talk, and let go. The words appear wherever your cursor is, with punctuation, and the ums and uhs are gone.

On a Mac with macOS 10.15 or later. Speech is turned into text on your Mac.

macOS has Dictation built in, and there are dedicated voice apps too. Here is what ClipTen’s dictation does, and how it compares.

### How it works

- Hold, talk, let go. Hold right ⌥, or double-tap a key if you prefer, and speak. Let go to type it.

- Clean words. Um, uh and false starts are removed. Capitals, spacing and full stops are put right.

- Your own words. Add names, brands and terms it should always hear right.

- Every dictation kept. Search what you said last week and paste it again. It stays on your Mac.
